Overview
The Youth and Education Office builds connections between City services, community resources, and public schools for students in K-12 to receive the necessary support to succeed.
A primary duty of the Youth and Education Office is to staff the Youth and Education Commission, which consists of community members who provide policy guidance, develop educational initiatives, and identify resources for school-to-career transition.
The mission of the office is to create and promote strategies that work toward educational excellence for Phoenix youth, from cradle to career, by:
- Increasing resources and partnerships to promote student achievement through innovative programs such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) that link Phoenix with 21st century global workforce initiatives.
- Preparing youth for education, careers, and life by strengthening communication among children, parents, and educational stakeholders.
- Ensuring educational equity among all youth to help them reach their fullest potential.
