Electrifying Transportation for a Cleaner Phoenix
Electric vehicles (EVs) help reduce pollution, improve air quality, and lower transportation costs. Traditional gas-powered cars contribute to smog, climate change, and health issues like asthma. By switching to EVs, Phoenix residents can enjoy cleaner air, better health, and savings on fuel and maintenance.
Phoenix is rapidly becoming the "Electric Valley" with a goal of 280,000 EVs by 2030. Over 16 EV-related organizations, including manufacturers, battery companies, and workforce training programs, are helping drive this transition.
To support this shift, the City developed the Transportation Electrification Action Plan (TEAP), which includes but is not limited to:
- Expanding EV charging infrastructure
- Increasing community awareness and adoption of EVs
- Exploring EV-friendly building codes
- Ensuring equitable access to EV benefits
- Transitioning the City’s fleet to electric vehicles
The TEAP aligns with the City of Phoenix Climate Action Plan, which aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030.
