Indoor Water Use

Use these resources to help conserve water used for indoor activities:

High Efficiency Fixtures

  • Lavatory faucets = 2.0 GPM
  • Shower heads = 2.0 GPM

Very High Efficiency Fixtures

  • Lavatory faucets = 1.5 GPM
  • Shower heads = 1.5 GPM

High Efficiency Toilets (HETs)

  • Flush volume for toilets = 1.28 GPF.

Energy Star Labeled Appliances

  • Dishwasher
  • Clothes Washer

Very Efficient Clothes Washer

Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) Tier 2 or higher
Modified Energy Factor (MEF) 2.0, Water Factor (WF) 6.0
Note LEED standard includes WF of 5.5

Water Heater

  • Hot water line insulation.
  • Hot water recirculation.
  • Water Heater location
