EPP is a way of purchasing that combines cost and a product
or service's less harmful effect on the environment. EPP recognizes
that informed purchasing choices are less harmful to our health
in many ways.
The city is interested in purchasing environmentally preferable
products certified by the following organizations:

Products containing recycled content - a list of designated
products, EPA's recommended recycled content, and a supplier
database are available at EPA's comprehensive
procurement guideline website.

Green Seal certified cleaning products, paints, and other
products. These can be found by looking for the Green Seal
logo. This third-party certifier meets EPA criteria. For more

Products certified as energy efficient with the Energy Star
logo. A list of the available product types and manufacturers
can be found at Energy
Star.

A list of bio-based product types and manufacturers can be

Computers or monitors certified with the Electronic Products
Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT). A list of certified
models and manufacturers is available here.

Products manufactured from wood that carries Forest Stewardship
Council certification. The certification ensures the wood
comes from forests that are responsibly managed. A list of
sustainably managed wood manufacturers and products can be
found at the Forest
Stewardship Council or the Rainforest
Alliance.
