Fire 2012 International Fire Code Adoption

2012 City of Phoenix Fire Code Adoption Process

The purpose of the fire code is to establish the minimum requirements consistent with nationally recognized good practice for providing a reasonable level of life safety and property protection from the hazards of fire, explosion or dangerous conditions in new and existing buildings, structures and premises, and to provide safety to fire fighters and emergency responders during emergency operations, and are updated to reflect the latest standards of life-safety and construction technology.

The amendments to the Fire Code are adopted by City Council to modify the Phoenix City Code.  The code adoption process is an open discussion with the community, and input is always solicited from all citizens and interested parties.

If you'd like to submit an amendment please e-mail Fire Prevention.

To attend a Fire Safety Advisory Board (FSAB) meeting to hear proposals or turn in a public comment card to speak before the committee, see public meeting notices or contact LaNette McKinney at 602-262-1849 or via e-mail for additional information.
