Q: Do I need detailed information, such as a Social Security number, to file an Order of Protection or Injunction Against Harassment?
A: No.  However, first and last name of the perpetrator is required. 

Q: Do I need to pay fees to obtain an Order of Protection or an Injunction Against Harassment?
A: No.  However, there are fees to serve an Injunction Against Harassment or to hire a process server. 

Q: If the Family Advocacy Center has helped me in the past with a different incident or relationship, can I receive assistance again?
A: Yes.

Q: If I have been victimized in the past and I never reported the incident to law enforcement, am I eligible for help.
A: Yes. 

Q: How do I have an Order of Protection or Injunction Against Harassment served?
A: Your advocate can assist you in choosing the best option they are served by a process server or law enforcement.   

Q: If I have an Order of Protection or Injunction Against Harassment, can I make changes to it at the Family Advocacy Center?
A: No. Changes must be made in the same court it was obtained.

Q: I am separated from my husband. Can I get an Order of Protection at the Family Advocacy Center?
A: If you have filed or pending case(s) at a Superior Court, you must file your Order of Protection at a Superior Court.

Q: Can I make a police report at the Family Advocacy Center?
A: Yes.  Please contact us for more information prior.

Q: If I do not have legal residency status, can I receive assistance at the Family Advocacy Center?
A: Yes. The Family Advocacy Center serves victims regardless of residency status. 

Q: My partner was arrested for hitting me but he wants to receive counseling. Can we both receive services from the visit the Family Advocacy Center?
A: No, The Family Advocacy Center resources and services are designed to help only victims of crime.

Q: If I do not have legal residency status, will I be reported to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)?
A: The Family Advocacy Center is not required to contact either agency.
