SALARY $67,642 - $100,942 annualized. Appointment can be made above the minimum depending upon qualifications.

EXPERIENCE Candidates must have at least two years of experience in the administration of Oracle database systems including design, implementation and maintenance of databases and a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. The preferred candidate will have experience in the disaster recovery process and have worked on Oracle performance tuning. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
DUTIES Database Administrators in the IT Department perform database design and definition, application development support, and performance monitoring and tuning. Other duties include installation, maintenance, and support of database system software, integrity assurance, and backup and recovery. Administrators also provide database technology guidance and training to application and operations personnel. There is also opportunity for staff to work on research and development of new technologies. Currently there is one vacancy in the Information Technology Department.
ALSO REQUIRED Some positions in this classification require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess an appropriate valid Arizona driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record. Working irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.
RESIDENCE Maricopa County residency is required within 24 months after the date of hire and must be maintained.
