DEPUTY CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

RECRUITMENT DATES April 14, 2008 – Until selection is made. First review of application material will occur on May 5, 2008.

SALARY $77,438 - $121,867 annualized. Appointment can be made above the minimum depending upon qualifications.

EXPERIENCE Requires five years of responsible experience in the Information Technology field, including data center management, telecommunications, data networking, business application support, enterprise systems support, enterprise service delivery management, GIS, enterprise security, web-based technologies, project management, and strategic planning. Also requires two years of supervisory experience and a Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Computer Science, or a related field. The preferred candidate will also have experience in managing a technical support division of an organization of a comparable size. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

DUTIES Manage the day-to-day activities of a division of the Information Technology Department. Activities include, but are not limited to, researching and applying best industry practices; preparation of budgets and control of expenditures; operational planning and service delivery; and assessing and presenting complex technical issues and decisions. The Deputy will also demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. The Deputy will work through team leads to plan, organize, and administer all activities of the division. Work is performed with considerable independence and judgment under the direction of the Chief Information Officer (CIO). The Deputy is a member of the Information Technology Department's management team and works closely with all City departments and Information Technology Department divisions to leverage information technology to enhance the delivery of government services to residents, improve interactions with businesses, empower residents through access to information, and improve the efficiency of internal operations. The Deputy will act as a liaison with assigned City departments to be their primary technology contact for IT services. The Deputy makes recommendations on technology standards and implements information technology policies and procedures as necessary in support of the City’s business goals.

Currently, there are two vacancies in the Information Technology Department supporting Enterprise Infrastructure Services and Aviation. The Enterprise Infrastructure Services position is responsible for implementing and maintaining all aspects of the enterprise infrastructure including telecommunications, structured cabling, data networking, server hardware and operating systems, data center operations, access management, and service delivery management. The Aviation position is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Information Technology Division of the Aviation Department. ALSO REQUIRED Some positions in this classification require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess an appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record.

RESIDENCE Maricopa County residency is required within 24 months after the date of hire and must be maintained.
