Palo Verde Library and Maryvale Community Center Celebrate Fifth Anniversary

Jan. 18, 2011

Palo Verde Library and Maryvale Community Center will host a celebration in honor of five years of service to the Maryvale community from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Library at 4402 N. 51st Ave. and at the Community Center at 4420 N. 51st Ave.

The festivities will get underway with a Family Fun Walk around the neighborhood at 10 a.m. followed by a performance by Mariachi Pasion from noon to 1 p.m. Throughout the morning, members of the Community Center’s ballet and tae-kwon do classes will offer demonstrations. The Friends of Phoenix Public Library, Palo Verde Chapter will also host a used book sale. Refreshments will be served.

The event commemorates the opening of the joint facility of Palo Verde Library and Maryvale Community Center on January 28, 2006. The 16,000-square foot library and 27,000-square foot center, free-standing buildings joined by a breezeway, were designed by Wendell Burnette Architects/Gould Evans Associates. The project was funded by the 2001 Citizens Bond.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library, Palo Verde Chapter and the Maryvale Community Center.
