Councilman, Mayor Staff Compete in "Dancing with the Stars" Arizona 2013

Feb. 21, 2013

Tom SImplot and Kelly DaltonCouncilman Tom Simplot and Kelly Dalton, deputy chief of staff for Mayor Greg Stanton, will compete in “Dancing with the Stars” Arizona 2013, benefiting the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona, Friday, Feb. 22, at The Phoenician, 6000 E. Camelback Road.

“When I was invited to be one of this year’s ‘Stars’ along with Mesa Mayor Scott Smith, Jim Norton and other great competitors, I immediately said yes,” said Councilman Simplot.  “I have a good friend who is currently recovering from donating a kidney, and through this process I have learned more about the impact of kidney disease and the work of the Kidney Foundation.  I also have a new appreciation for professional dancers and what it takes to stay in that great of shape!”

“After surviving kidney cancer, I knew I wanted to do something to give back and the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona was the perfect fit,” said Dalton.  “This event is a lot of fun, but it’s really about making a difference in people’s lives.”

“Dancing with the Stars” Arizona features business leaders, elected officials and community leaders who, like the hit ABC show, are partnered with professional dancers.  The votes of professional competition dance judges and the audience members are combined to give each pair of contestants a final score.  More information can be found at azkidney.org or by calling 602-840-1644.
