Councilman Daniel Valenzuela will “Read Across Phoenix” at a dozen schools and libraries through March 2, in celebration of the National Education Association’s “Read Across America”.

“Reading changes lives one book at a time,” said Councilman Valenzuela.  “I believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy reading and it all starts with our public schools and libraries.  I am thrilled to be able to participate in this national celebration of reading motivation and awareness with our youth and their families.”

Now in its 15th year, NEA’s “Read Across America” is the largest reading event in the country, taking place each year near the birthday of Dr. Seuss to benefit public schools and libraries across the country.  The cast members of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax – Betty White, Zac Efron, Taylor Swift and Danny DeVito – are honorary co-chairs of this year’s event.

Residents are encouraged to visit phoenix.gov/district5 and subscribe to the Councilman’s neighborhood newsletter to stay informed of upcoming events and important city issues.
