The Undersecretary for North America, Julian Ventura, met recently in the Foreign Ministry with the Mayor of Phoenix, Arizona, Greg Stanton, who traveled to México City after attending the Annual Conference of Municipalities in Veracruz. It was Mayor Stanton’s first visit to México since becoming mayor in January.

At the meeting, the two officials discussed the Mexican community in Phoenix and its clear contributions to the city’s economy, society and culture. They agreed to strengthen cooperation between city officials and the Mexican consulate here, and act with respect and within the existing legal framework.

They stressed the importance of Mexican tourism for Arizona’s - and specifically Phoenix’ - economy. They also highlighted the mutually beneficial economic opportunities created by the relationship between México and Phoenix, and they agreed to continue promoting business between the two places.

The Mayor was accompanied by City Manager David Cavazos. Undersecretary Ventura was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Tourism and ProMéxico.
