This morning, Councilman Daniel Valenzuela received the Daniel R. Ortega Jr. Public Service Award at Valley del Sol’s 25th Hispanic Leadership Institute (HLI) breakfast, at the Phoenix Convention Center, in Downtown Phoenix.

“I am honored and humbled to receive this award for public service named for a true champion in our community, Daniel Ortega, Jr.,” said Councilman Daniel Valenzuela.  “I carry with me the skills, tools and values gained as a member of the HLI Class of 2005, and I will carry the spirit of this award as I continue to serve my neighbors in Phoenix – I am blessed.”

Valley del Sol’s HLI promotes the individual development of Hispanics for increased participation in leadership roles and serves as a principal education and networking resource for expertise and advocacy on leadership issues affecting Latino communities.
