The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department will host a monthly health and wellness series, “Civic Space Health Days” at the downtown park on the first Saturday of each month.
The free events, part of the City’s FitPHX initiative, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will kick off April 6 at Civic Space Park, 424 N. Central Ave. Civic Space Health Days also are set for May 4 and June 1.
The events will features a host of health and wellness exhibitors, fitness classes, food trucks, games, raffle, kids’ crafts, free health screenings and/or free immunizations. The April 6 event will feature exhibitors that include Native Health, Women’s Health Coalition, La Frontera-Empact, Lincoln Family YMCA, South Phoenix Healthy Start, Phoenix Center for the Arts, Alcoholics Anonymous and more.
FitPHX is a city-wide initiative, led by Mayor Greg Stanton, Councilman Daniel Valenzuela and Olympic Gold Medalist Misty Hyman, with the goal of making Phoenix one of the top 10 healthiest cities in the nation.
