“I would like to congratulate Daniel V. Garcia for being selected as the new Phoenix Police Chief and welcome him to Phoenix. 

I also would like to thank Acting Police Chief Joe Yahner for his leadership of the department during this process, as well as all of the applicants for their service to communities across the nation and right here in Phoenix.

This selection process was inclusive, thorough and well managed.  The search firm brought together a diverse group of exceptional candidates from across the country and representatives from our community had the opportunity to become a part of the process.  Our neighbors provided valuable input throughout this process and I commend City Manager David Cavazos for his leadership in this process that produced a Police Chief who will lead the department in a positive, fair and inclusive direction. 

God bless the people of Phoenix and our new Police Chief.”
