Councilwoman Thelda Williams and Councilman Michael Nowakowski are in discussions with Mayor Greg Stanton about forming a task force, which they would co-chair, in response to the recent discovery of dead animals on private land near 15th and Southern avenues. Mayor Stanton has agreed to seat a task force to confront this serious issue.
“My focus now is to determine if animal cruelty was involved with this case,” said Councilwoman Thelda Williams. “Whether or not this is the case, the dumping of dead animals is a health risk and we need to know who is responsible and make sure justice is served.”
“Once notified, the city took swift action to ensure the bodies were removed to protect public health,” said Councilman Michael Nowakowski. “Now we need to come together to determine exactly what happened and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
