Phoenix Sky Harbor's Shops and Restaurants Receive Award

April 7, 2010

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has received the Airport with the Best Overall Concessions Program Award in the Large Airport category from Airport Revenue News (ARN). ARN is an established industry publication which honors airports and concessions each year in its Best Airport & Concessionaire Awards. Sky Harbor’s concessions program includes more than 50 restaurants, stores and other retail locations.

An online voting system was used to determine the winners and all interested industry professionals had the opportunity to place their votes. In order to maintain fairness, concessionaires voted for airport programs and airport executives voted for concession companies.

The awards were announced at ARN’s annual Airport Revenue Conference and Exhibition held in mid-March in Houston and will be included in ARN’s May issue. This year’s results were actually a three-way tie, meaning that Sky Harbor will share this prestigious designation with San Francisco International Airport and Toronto Pearson International Airport.

“It is a wonderful honor,” said Business Development Manager Paula Kucharz, who is in charge of Sky Harbor’s concession program. “We could not have done this without our retail consultants, partners, and our other Aviation division partners including Facilities, Operations, and Design and Construction, among others.”

Sky Harbor has nine Starbucks locations, an over-the-counter drug store, locally-owned restaurants such as Oaxaca and El Bravo, bookstores and a variety of gift shops, golf and clothing stores. The Airport even features a shop where everything costs $10.

In 2009, Sky Harbor was awarded the Best Concessions Program Design in the Large Airport Division from ARN.
