Mayor Greg Stanton and City Manager David Cavazos will host Online w/ Mayor Stanton, Phoenix’s first-ever live online budget hearing at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 19.
Stanton and Cavazos will take questions from Phoenix residents via Twitter, Facebook, email and live feed and answer them on a live broadcast on Phoenix Channel 11 and on phoenix.gov.
“Phoenix residents should be able to easily and directly tell us how they want us to spend their hard-earned dollars, and social media is key to linking the public to their city services,” Stanton said. “I want to get your input on what affects you and answer your questions.”
Stanton and Cavazos will discuss the proposed structurally balanced budget, the first since before the recession. Some of the recommended areas to increase services include police and fire, pool hours, parks, senior centers, library hours, transit, graffiti and more.
“We are looking at a structurally balanced budget that is doing more with less and we want to continue down the path of fiscal responsibility,” Cavazos said. “There’s nothing more important than the public’s input in this open, transparent process.”
