Starting this Thursday, Councilman Daniel Valenzuela and his staff will participate in the Phoenix Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy, class #63. Councilman Valenzuela is the first council member to participate in the academy.
“Public safety must be the number-one priority for the city of Phoenix,” said Councilman Valenzuela. “As a councilman and Valley firefighter, I know the best way to understand the challenges facing police and the community is to participate in a program like this.”
Councilman Valenzuela and his staff will visit various police facilities, receive hands-on experience and participate in classroom discussions. The academy meets once a week for four weeks, for a total of 20 hours.
