Councilman Bill Gates will receive the Sentinel Award for Business Advocacy at the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce’s annual IMPACT Awards luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa, 2400 E. Missouri Ave.

Councilman Gates is being honored for his leadership as chairman of the City Council Finance, Efficiency, Innovation and Sustainability Subcommittee, which has helped the city save more than $40 million during the past two years, as well as his work establishing coalitions within District 3 to identify business development opportunities and addressing the needs and concerns of business owners.

“I am honored to receive the Sentinel Award from GPCC because it highlights one of my top priorities – encouraging the growth of businesses, both big and small,” said Councilman Gates.  “Businesses create jobs and power our economy, and I will continue to be a strong supporter for the needs of business owners on the City Council.”
