Councilman Tom Simplot will speak to a group of Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center employees on Tuesday, June 1, to celebrate Federal Employees LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Month.
President Barack Obama officially proclaimed Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month last year, and the VA Medical Center is continuing the tradition this year. The celebration will include speakers, workshops and education about a variety of LGBT issues.
“LGBT individuals have made significant contributions to our community which should be celebrated,” said Simplot. “We must also continue to fight discrimination and prejudice against any group of people. I am honored to support VA Medical Center employees to this end.”
