Great New Restaurants Coming to Phoenix Sky Harbor

June 15, 2011

If you like to grab food to go at the airport’s Terminal 4 before you take off or when you arrive at home, you’re in for some new choices coming soon.

At today’s Phoenix City Council meeting, the recommended proposal by Host International, Inc. received unanimous approval for the first of two new food and beverage contracts in Sky Harbor’s busiest terminal, Terminal 4.

HMS Host has provided food and beverage service in Terminal 4 since 1990.

Three companies competed for this new contract: Areas USA PHX, LLC, Host International, Inc. and SSP America, Inc. Host International was chosen based on five criteria:

  • Food & Beverage Concepts
  • Financial return to the City
  • Management and Operations Plan
  • Design/Quality of Tenant Improvements
  • Experience and Qualifications

Proposals for the second Terminal 4 food and beverage contract are due August 31, 2011. Interviews are scheduled for November, with City Council action expected in January 2012.

Renovation of the Terminal 4 food and beverage areas will begin in January 2012. Host International will bring new restaurants and some old favorites, many of them local, to Terminal 4 on both sides of security. The new concepts will open in phases through mid 2013.

“We are so thrilled to be able to bring these excellent food and beverage choices to our customers,” said Acting Assistant Aviation Director, Tamie Fisher.

New concepts include:

Paradise Bakery & Café Modern Burger
NYPD Pizza Olive & Ivy Marketplace
Sir Veza’s Taco Garage LGO Burger
la Madeleine LGO Deli
Cartel Coffee Lab LGO Pizzeria & Grateful Spoon Gelato
McDonald’s Chelsea’s Kitchen
Press Express D’licious Dishes
El Bravo Barrio Café
Sauce Cowboy Ciao
Blanco’s Tacos & Tequila Starbuck’s

“We’re proud to have provided opportunities to so many local, small business owners, many of whom partnered with Host to bring their restaurants to the Airport,” said Phoenix City Councilman Michael Johnson, District 8.
