Phoenix Offers Free Prior Years Tax Preparation
The city of Phoenix will offer free prior years tax preparation services by IRS-certified volunteers during the months of July and August on a first-come, first-served basis.
Residents may visit John F. Long Family Services Center, 3454 N. 51st Ave., from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 27. Also Emmett McLoughlin Training Center, 1150 S. Seventh Ave., will be open for residents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays through Aug. 6.
Individuals and families who qualify for the program may be entitled to various credits, such as the earned income tax credit, child tax credit or the education tax credit at the two free tax preparation sites.
Taxpayers are asked to bring a picture ID for themselves and spouse, Social Security cards and/or Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) cards for all household members, proof of income - including W-2's, and 1099 Retirement Income, information for other income and all deductions/credits, and the amount of money paid to child care provider (if applicable). If filing jointly, both adults must be present to sign the return. The tax preparation services are for 2004 to 2008 only.
