Health Workshop on What Happens Between 4:30 p.m. and 9-1-1

“Health for a Lifetime,” a series of free workshops presented by the city of Phoenix Human Services Department Senior Services Division and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, will present health information for older adults and the community.

The next workshop, “What Happens Between 4:30 p.m. and 9-1-1?,” will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Pecos Senior Center, 17010 S. 48th St.

Pam Goslar, Ph.D. and program director of the Prevention and Outcomes Research Center at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, will discuss what to do when you need medical attention after your doctor’s office is closed. Dr. Goslar will educate attendees on how to prepare for the emergency trip to the hospital, the different types of “after-hours” care and tips on how to avoid the need for emergency care. Information also will be provided about health and safety concerns, including the latest news on H1N1 Swine Flu.

Future monthly workshops will include information about nutrition, cardiac care and the latest cancer treatments. The workshops are free and open to the public and support the mission of the Healthier Phoenix Initiative. For more information, call 602-534-5366.
