PCDIC and Partners Award Summer Youth Entrepreneurial Scholarships
Phoenix Community Development Investment Corporation (PCDIC), Arizona Call-A-Teen, GateWay Community College and Phoenix Workforce Connection awarded scholarships to 15 youth who recently completed college level courses on business ownership and business plan development.
Twenty-six youth age 16 to 23 completed a four-week program and learned about business ownership, work at a small business in Phoenix and how to write a business plan as a team. They presented their plan at a concluding ceremony for the chance to win a scholarship at an in-state accredited college or university. The diverse group included high school juniors, seniors, graduates, youth at risk, single parents, homeless and primary income earners for their families.
A $1,000 scholarship, for each team member, was awarded to Haipei Chang, Connor Brookshire, Marisol Rosas, Jovanni Ramirez and Alberto Guzman for their “Gekko Servers LLC: Server Assistance with Graphic Design Component” plan.
$750 scholarships, were awarded to Mathew Rose, Brandenn Arnold, Alyeshia Walton, Phillip Borrego and Maria Duran for their “We Run This: Community Based Organization/Center” plan.
Individual $500 scholarships were awarded to Frank Villa, Caesar Velazquez, Luis Falcon, Angeles Avila and Marissa Galindo for their “Cutz with Attitude: Barber Shop” plan.
