Residents are invited to join Councilman Bill Gates for his monthly coffee chat at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Abby’s Grill Cafe, 13035 N. Cave Creek Road.

This month’s speakers include guests from Rio Salado College to talk about their new campus in District 3 and Arizona SmartPower to discuss the Sunnyslope Solar Challenge. The Literacy Program, a grant that PBS received from First Things First to provide literacy workshops to families in north Phoenix, also will be discussed.

Coffee and soda will be provided, and breakfast will be available for purchase.
