Phoenix's Parks and Rec Sites Earn National Accolades

Sept. 9, 2011

Two storied Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department sites have earned accolades from national publications.  Pueblo Grande Museum has earned recognition from True West magazine as one of the top Western-themed museums in the country. The listing ran in the magazine’s September issue and is available online.

Papago Park was chosen by Food and Wine magazine as one of America’s Best Parks for Picnics. The article cites the availability of basin-side picnic tables a short trek from Hole-in-the-Rock, a feature of the park’s famous orange-red sandstone buttes. The article is viewable online.

These two most recent articles come on the heels of National Geographic recognizing Phoenix as one of the best hiking cities in the country. This article is viewable online from the Trail and Desert Preserves page of the department website at phoenix.gov/parks.
