On Friday, Sept. 13, Councilman Michael Nowakowski will welcome to Phoenix Mayor Alejandro Lopez-Caballero of our sister city Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

This visit is another in a series of economic development missions between our two cities and will include a visit to Desert West Community Center, Casa Pedro Ruiz and Radio Campesina.  At 8 p.m. Saturday, Councilman Nowakowski will welcome Mayor Lopez-Cabellero to the stage during Fiestas Patrias at Desert Sky Mall, 7611 W. Thomas Road.

“Each year, billions in Mexico trade dollars make their way into Texas and California, while only a fraction comes to Arizona – and we are on a mission to change this,” said Councilman Nowakowski.  “This visit is part of the business friendship we are building with our sister city to the south, to foster mutually-beneficially opportunities to grow both of our economies.”

During the visit, Mayor Lopez-Caballero will present awards to Betsey Bayless, CEO of Maricopa Integrated Health Systems, as well as doctors and nurses training medical staff from Mexico to ensure our sister city is healthy, economically as well as physically.
