Residents are invited to join Councilman Bill Gates for his Coffee Chat event at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Eye Opener Restaurant, 524 W. Hatcher Road., in Sunnyslope. This event combines Councilman Gates’ “Coffee Chat” and Desert Horizon Precinct’s “Coffee with a Cop” community meetings. Secretary of State Ken Bennett is attending this month’s event along with speakers Commander Harry Markley of the Desert Horizon Precinct and a representative from the Phoenix Fire Department.

This month’s chat features an update on public safety as the meeting’s focus. Councilman Gates and Secretary Bennett also will be dressed in Boy Scout uniforms in a show of support for the youth program that builds character, teaches responsibility in being an active citizen and develops personal fitness.

Coffee is free for those that attend the event and breakfast is available for purchase.
