Residents are invited to join Councilman Tom Simplot and Mayor Phil Gordon for an unveiling ceremony of the "Mayor's Protocol House" plaque at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, in front of the Rosson House, 113 N. Sixth St., inside Heritage Square. The Rosson House was first given that designation last October. This year’s ceremony will occur at the start of Rainbows Festival, which takes place this weekend at Heritage Square.
“Dedicating the Mayor’s Protocol House during Rainbows Festival reflects the diversity of our city and our community. This is the Mayor’s Protocol House. This is our city’s house,” said Councilman Simplot.
The Rosson House is a beautifully restored 1895 Victorian style house located at Heritage Square, one of Phoenix’s Points of Pride. Purchased by the city in 1974, it has been authentically restored through the contributions of many and offers visitors a glimpse into everyday life during the early days of Phoenix.
