Voting Reminder for Nov. 3 City of Phoenix Special Council Election and Runoff Election
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, the city of Phoenix will hold a Special Council Vacancy Election in District 3 and a Runoff Election in District 6 for voters to elect a council member. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There are several ways for voters to determine their polling place. The polling place name and address are identified on the back cover of the Sample Ballot Pamphlet that was mailed in September to all residences in Districts 3 and 6 where there is a registered voter. A polling place locator application also is available at phoenix.gov, which allows voters to enter their residence address and obtain the name and address of the voter’s polling place and a map showing the location. Voters also can call the City Clerk Department election information line at 602-261-VOTE (8683). Hearing-impaired voters should call the Teletypewriter (TTY) number at 602-534-2737.
Every voter is required to show proof of identity at the polling place to receive a ballot. Specific forms of photo or non-photo identification with the voter’s name and address are required. A list of the acceptable forms of identification appears in the Sample Ballot Pamphlet and also is available at phoenix.gov.
Voters who do not present acceptable identification may vote a provisional ballot at the polls, but may be required to present acceptable identification to an election official by 5 p.m. on the Friday after the election.
The city of Phoenix will operate a voter information telephone line on Election Day from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. to assist voters with information about the election or polling place locations. The number is 602-261-8683 or TTY/602-534-2737.
Voters who have not yet returned their early ballot must mail the ballot in time to be received by the City Clerk no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day for the ballot to be counted. Voters who will not be able to mail their ballots on time can vote the ballot, place it in the signed affidavit envelope and drop it off at any polling place in the city or at City Hall, 200 W. Washington St., or may go to their polling place to vote, but will be required to cast a provisional ballot.
For more information about the election, visit phoenix.gov or call the City Clerk Department at 602-261-VOTE (8683) or TTY/602-534-2737.
