City’s Street Transportation, Aviation and Public Works Departments win
The city of Phoenix was recognized for its efforts to clean up Valley air through development of alternative transportation, workforce participation in sustainable commuting and “green” program operations at the 26th Annual Clean Air Campaign Awards and Luncheon held Oct. 30 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort.
"The city of Phoenix organization and all of our employees care about making this community sustainable and environmentally-friendly. These Clean Air awards highlight what we already know, that each employee and project can help us be good environmental stewards for all our residents,” said acting City Manager Ed Zuercher.
Phoenix departments and employees won in several categories at the awards ceremony, which is organized by the Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority. Awards won are listed below:
- Outstanding Marketing & Creativity Event, more than $500 - Street Transportation Department and Maricopa County Bike-to-Work Day
- MAG Livable Communities – Aviation Department PHX Sky Train™ project
- Maricopa Air Quality Excellence – Public Works Department Fleet Services Division
- Corporate Sustainability – Aviation Department Sustainability Management Plan
The Clean Air Campaign Awards honor the individuals and organizations that have made extraordinary efforts to reduce air pollution and traffic congestion. More than 500 guests were recognized at the event for their year-long efforts to improve air quality and comply with the Maricopa County Trip Reduction Program.
