Nominations Deadline Extended for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Event

Martin Luther King Jr. Awards GraphicThe Phoenix Human Relations Commission, in collaboration with the city of Phoenix Equal Opportunity Department, has extended the deadline to nominate people, including youth, who have made an impact on the quality of life of Phoenix residents and contributed significantly to creating a compassionate and socially just community.

The Calvin C. Goode Lifetime Achievement and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Living the Dream awards will be presented during the annual Arizona Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration event at 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel, 340 N. Third St.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has made Phoenix a better place to live by promoting social and economic justice and civil rights.  Candidates for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Living the Dream Award must embody the ideas of Dr. King through their personal commitment to human relations and social justice.
