Residents are welcome to join Councilman Tom Simplot for this month's westside district meeting at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Bret Tarver Learning Center, 1516 N. 35th Ave. (southwest corner of 35th Avenue and McDowell Road).

This month’s guest speaker will be the new Maryvale Precinct Cmdr. Michael Kurtenbach, who is a longtime veteran of the Police Department.  Kurtenbach will discuss how the Police Department works to protect and maintain a high quality of life for Phoenix residents.  He also will be available to answer questions about the Maryvale Precinct.

Attendees are asked to RSVP to the District 4 office at 602-262-7447 or email council.district.4@phoenix.gov.

Also, residents are invited to a free Friday night Moonlight Movie in the Park featuring the football classic “Rudy,” sponsored by Cox Communications.  Based on a true story, “Rudy” is an uplifting and inspiring movie about a young man determined to beat the odds.  Join your neighbors at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Steele Indian School Park (Third Street and Indian School Road) for the free film.  Bring your friends, family and a blanket as the fall evenings are now chilly.

For more information, call the District 4 office at 602-262-7447 or email council.district.4@phoenix.gov.
