The public is invited to attend a BBQ benefitting the Phoenix Animal Cruelty Task Force starting at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 3318 N. 15th Ave. The $35 per person donation will support the efforts of the task force, co-chaired by Council members Michael Nowakowski and Thelda Williams. The task force was created to address animal abuse and neglect issues, focusing on three areas: education; training of first responders; and legislative and ordinance changes.
Task Force members include: State Representative Kate Brophy McGee; Andrea Katsenes, Cox Communications; Chris West, Arizona Humane Society; Diane Simonian, community member; Joey Ogburn, Project Angel Eyes; John Tutelman, deputy city prosecutor; Kari Nienstedt, Human Society of the United States; Shelley MacDonald, community member; Commander Tim Hampton, Phoenix Police Department.
The Task Force is generating donations of money and supplies, creating marketing materials, including a public service announcement, and identifying other partner agencies and individuals to support this mission.
Tax deductible donations can be made to Phoenix Police Foundation/Animal Task Force and mailed to 200 W. Washington St., 11th floor, Attn: Councilwoman Williams, Phoenix, AZ 85003.
