Prior to his appointment, Councilman Johnson served as a member of NLC’s Board of Directors, Human Development Policy Committee, First Tier Suburb Council, Immigration Task Force, International Subcommittee and as First Vice President for NBC-LEO. Also, he currently serves as a member of NLC’s Advisory Board.

Also he serves as a member of several board of directors, including St. Luke’s Medical Center/Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital; Jewish Family and Children Services; Downtown Phoenix Partnership; and the Phoenix Symphony.

Each year, the NLC Congress of Cities conference serves to provide local officials with opportunities to meet one another and learn about the resources available to help their communities.

Councilman Johnson has been actively promoting to bring the 2011 Congress of Cities and Exposition to Phoenix, Nov. 8 - 12, which is expected to draw thousands of local elected and appointed officials and municipal staff.
