PHX11 Program Looks at Services for the Disabled Community

PHX 11 Logo for News ReleasesPHX 11, the city’s award-winning news and information station, looks at city resources, programs and services for the disabled community in its latest “DiverseCity.”

The program highlights efforts by the city to make public buildings and transit more accessible and reports on how Phoenix police are trained to deal with people with special needs.

“DiverseCity” host Deborah Sedillo Dugan also introduces viewers to Larry Celano, a golf enthusiast who was injured during the 1989 invasion of Panama. Celano uses a special type of golf cart that is available at all city golf courses for players with physical disabilities. Also featured is Daniel O’Keefe, a teen with Down syndrome who learned to swim through the Angelfish program at Telephone Pioneer Park.
