The city’s Public Works staff will observe Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. Customers are advised of the following changes to their collection schedules:
On Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012 – no trash and recycling will be collected.
- Tuesday’s collection moves to Wednesday, Dec. 26
- Wednesday’s collection moves to Thursday, Dec. 27
- Thursday’s collection moves to Friday, Dec. 28
- Friday’s collection moves to Saturday, Dec. 29
On New Year’s Day, Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 – no trash and recycling will be collected.
- Tuesday’s collection moves to Wednesday, Jan. 2
- Wednesday’s collection moves to Thursday, Jan. 3
- Thursday’s collection moves to Friday, Jan. 4
- Friday’s collection moves to Saturday, Jan. 5
Transfer stations also will be observing these holidays and will be closed on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Transfer stations will run on holiday hours (6 a.m. to noon) on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
As a reminder, residents with curbside collection should have their containers on the curb by 5:30 a.m. to ensure timely collection. The containers also should be four feet apart.
Since same-day collection was implemented this summer, residents have to remember changes in service on only three holidays every year: Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
