Airport Revenue News (ARN) announced the winner of its prestigious Director of the Year award in the large airports category. For 2010 the winner is Danny Murphy, Aviation Director for the City of Phoenix and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
The nominees had to excel in the categories of leadership, innovation, revenue generation, marketing, customer service, community service and proactive efforts to advance the airport industry. The director in each division receiving the most number of nominations won the award.
"We are very proud to honor Danny Murphy with this distinction," says Pauline Armbrust, president and CEO of ARN. "He has proven himself to be a strong director taking the reins in 2006 and spearheading many capital projects important to the future of PHX. He is well-respected and beloved by his staff, who say he is a very strong, hands-on leader and can be seen walking the terminals on a daily basis to speak with employees and experience the airport from his customers' perspective."
In a time when the economy, business and airports are struggling around the world, Sky Harbor’s airport director has kept Sky Harbor as America’s Friendliest Airport and continues to find innovative ways to do more with less.
Aviation Director Danny Murphy says, "To be recognized in this way by Airport Revenue News is truly an honor. We wouldn't have such a successful airport without the leadership of our Mayor and City Council, our Phoenix Aviation Advisory Board, and our excellent, dedicated staff."
Murphy is featured on the cover and throughout the December 2010/January 2011 year end double-issue of Airport Revenue News Magazine. Copies of the magazine are available through the Sky Harbor Public Information Office.
