The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety recently awarded the Street Transportation Department a $41,000 grant to enhance its traffic safety efforts.
The grant will be used to increase awareness of city traffic safety issues through development and continuation of educational programs and staff training.
"Traffic safety is a priority not only for Phoenix drivers, but also for pedestrians, bicycle riders, transit passengers and school-age children walking to and from school,” said Tom Godbee, deputy director, Street Transportation Department. “Our objective in obtaining this grant was to increase awareness and provide useful information to our residents that will help them as they navigate safely through our busy streets.”
