Sky Harbor to Host METRO Light Rail Celebration at 44th Street & Washington

Phoenix, AZ – Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport celebrates its connection to METRO light rail tomorrow with the Phoenix Sky Harbor Community Day.  The celebration will be held at the PHX Airport Shuttle stop on the southwest corner of 44th Street and Washington, December 27 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

This free event will feature interactive games, Sky Harbor’s mascot, face painting, music and food and beverage sales benefiting the United Way. Airport partners such as the Transportation Security Administration and Hensel Phelps will participate in the event. In addition, neighboring businesses and attractions including the Pueblo Grande Museum, Tovrea Castle, Gateway Community College, the Refrigeration School, Phoenix Greyhound Park, Honeywell and Accutemp Refrigeration will set up booths at the location.

Sky Harbor will connect travelers, visitors and employees to light rail at 44th Street and Washington with the free PHX Airport Shuttle. The silver and black shuttle buses will run the same hours as light rail and will transport passengers between 44th Street and Washington and all three Airport terminals. The shuttles will arrive at each stop about every ten minutes, whenever light rail is operating.

On Saturday December 27 during the festival, passengers will have an opportunity to take the PHX Airport Shuttle to and from Sky Harbor. Official light rail and free Airport shuttle service begins Monday December 29.
