Councilman Mattox Re-Appointed to Top NLC Policy Leadership Post
Councilman Claude Mattox has been re-appointed as vice chair of the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Policy Committee of the National League of Cities (NLC) for 2007.
The committee is one of NLC’s seven standing steering committees that develop policy positions and advocate on behalf of NLC on national issues involving municipal governments. Councilman Mattox chairs the Phoenix City Council Land Use, Environment and Natural Resources Subcommittee.
"I am pleased to serve once again on this important NLC committee," said Mattox. "I look forward to continuing my close work with representatives from around the country to develop a better understanding of environmental issues and how Phoenix fits into the national picture."
Mattox hosted a group of steering committee members in Phoenix late last year, sharing city environmental programs, like Rio Salado, Tres Rios and green buildings.
NLC is the nation’s oldest and largest municipal organization, with a national representation of 19,000 cities and towns throughout the United States.
