Councilman Mattox Joins Gompers Board of Directors

District 5 Councilman Claude Mattox recently was appointed to serve on the board of directors for the Gompers Habilitation Center, located in west Phoenix.

“I’m honored to join to the board of directors for the Gompers Habilitation Center. They are a respected organization in my district that works to empower and advocate for people with disabilities. Being a part of Gompers is a natural fit – I have a degree in psychology and as a college student, I worked with mentally and physically challenged, so I understand firsthand the purpose and need for their services,” said Mattox.

“Gompers is overjoyed that Councilman Mattox has agreed to serve as a member of board of directors. As board selections goes, it is imperative that Gompers’ Board members support the mission of our agency through their work in the public and private sector. His service to the community and his concern for those with disabilities is a ‘picture perfect’ example of the type of support Gompers needs to further its programs and services for this unique population,” said Mark Jacoby, executive director with Gompers Habitation Center.

For 62 years, Gompers Habilitation Center has implemented programs for developmentally disabled children and adults. Its mission is to empower and advocate for individuals with disabilities in an environment of compassion, dignity and respect. Through a full range of exceptional programs and services (educational, social integration, vocational, therapeutic programs and dental services), Gompers maximizes the individual potential of each of its clients.
