Councilman Mattox Appointed to National League of Cities Committee
Councilman Claude Mattox has been appointed to serve as chair of the National League of Cities' Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Advocacy Committee (EENR). Prior to his appointment, Mattox has been a member of the EENR Committee for seven years.
For more than 10 years, Mattox has served as chair and a member of various City Council Subcommittees dealing with energy, environment and natural resources, including the Water and Natural Resources, Sustainability and Infrastructure subcommittees.
“The year ahead will be critical for the future of this country – and for our cities and towns,” said Kathleen Novak, president of the National League of Cities. “In light of the economic crisis, we must work with the new administration to ensure that the needs of our hometowns are part of the conversation. Issues such as infrastructure investment, housing and workforce development, along with reliable sources of funding for municipalities are critical to building a stronger America. I will look to Claude’s leadership on this important committee to help define our expectations and sharpen our message on behalf of cities and towns.”
The Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Advocacy Committee is responsible for developing policy recommendations on issues such as air quality, water quality, energy policy, national wetlands policy, noise control, and solid and hazardous waste management.
