Phoenix police and fire break ground for new stations
Phoenix Fire Station #72 and Phoenix Police Precinct 200 became a step closer to reality this morning during groundbreaking ceremonies held on the one of the two properties. The new fire station will be located at 33027 N. Cave Creek Road with Phoenix Police Precinct 200 a short distance away at 33055 North Cave Creek Road.
Phoenix Fire Station #72 will open in April, 2010 and the new Phoenix Police 200 Precinct is scheduled to be in service by July, 2010. The funding for the projects was provided by a bond passed by the citizens of Phoenix in 2006. Growth in the area that encompasses Council District 2 has made the need for emergency medical, fire and police services evident.
Speakers at the event included Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon who was joined by Public Safety Manager Jack Harris, Councilwoman Peggy Neely (District 2), and Phoenix Fire Assistant Chief Ken Leake.
