“It is with great sadness that I come to you as a firefighter and a councilman as we mourn the tragic loss of 19 firefighters who were battling the Yarnell Hill Fire near Prescott last night. We are devastated. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these brave heroes that were killed putting their lives on the line to protect our community.  I ask the community to continue praying not only for the fallen firefighters, but also for the brave men and women who continue protecting the homes and structures near the fire."

"As a man of faith, I respectfully offer the scripture which led me to the fire service: ‘Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.’ - John 15:13-15.”

If you would like to help the families of the fallen firefighters, donate to the 100 Club of Arizona or to help the Yarnell community, donate to the American Red Cross.
