Phoenix Public Transit Department and members of the AZ National Guard’s Family Readiness Program team up to decorate the 4th Annual Flag Bus.
As a patriotic tribute, the City of Phoenix Public Transit Department will roll out a red-white-and-blue-decorated bus starting May 17, Armed Forces Day. The bus will service city streets for about two months.
Before its first day of service, the Phoenix Public Transit Department invited the members of the 996th Area Support Medical Company (ASMC) Family Readiness Group to prepare the bus for patriotic presentation, with volunteers assisting in putting the finishing touches to the interior décor of the Flag Bus.
The Flag Bus will be servicing Route 70, which goes all the way to Luke Air Force Base. A route schedule for the Flag Bus will be available at phoenix.gov/publictransit. The Flag Bus will be in service until July 6.
The fourth annual Flag Bus is a thank you from the Office of the Mayor, City Council, Citizens' Transit Commission and Public Transit Department. The bus exterior depicts the red, white and blue colors of the American flag. Inside the bus are red and blue seats, handmade interior cards and other festive touches.
The cost for one bus ride is $1.25; seniors, youths and persons with disabilities can get onboard for 60 cents and children under age six are free. All-day passes can also be purchased for $2.50. The passes allow passengers multiple transfers between buses.
