The center is built on the former site of the Southwest Supermarket, where firefighter Bret Tarver passed away fighting a fire in March 2001. A diverse community group developed the learning center concept. The new facility offers people of all ages access to a cutting edge a computer lab with Internet access, a reading room, rotating art displays and numerous educational classes.
