Hance Park Re-Master Plan:

A professional design team has created an updated vision for this downtown park. The design team, selected after an extensive RFQ and interview process, was comprised of local, national and international talents: !melk/Jerry Van Eyck lead designer / master planner  (www.!melk.com), Weddle Gilmore prime consultant (www.weddlegilmore.com) and Floor Associates landscape architect (www.floorassociates.com). Other members of the team include HR&A, ETM Associates, City Activators Inc., Rider Levett Bucknall, Pentagram, Kimber Lanning, Public Workshop, David Evans Assoc, Buro Happold, IAS Labs, Artistic Arborist and RAMM.

Heritage and Science Park/Historic Heritage Square

Historic Heritage Square encompasses the only remaining group of residential structures from the original townsite of Phoenix. Visitors can take a tour of the Rosson House, a refurbished authentic Victorian home built in 1895. They can also view a collection of historic homes that house restaurants and shops. Heritage Square improvements under way:
Currently we are replacing the wood shingle roofs on the historic buildings in the Square. The project should be complete by mid-April.

August project update: The new restroom for picnic area is in fabrication in Texas and should be delivered in September. The renovation of the existing restroom at the softball complex is nearly c0m0lete and it should be open to the public next month. Work on the new recreation center is progressing quickly with the roofing nearly complete which allows interior work to begin in earnest. Sod was installed this month in affected construction areas.

This new park features a shaded playground, LED security lighting, picnic tables, Ramada, grill, benches, large shade trees, two turf areas and sidewalks. The 2006 Bond Program provides funding for the acquisition of the land and development of this project.

This Neighborhood Recreation Center is currently closed. For more information regarding this closure please call the South Division Office at 602-262-6111.
* Summer Hours: June 8 - July 31. Monday - Friday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Closed Saturday & Sunday. The recreation center serves youth and teens between the ages of 8-17. Center amenities include: pool table, foosball, computer lab and board games.
