Are you looking for a great summer job? We’re looking for responsible people 15 years of age or older, with a positive attitude for the summer. The temporary summer positions begin the first week in May and span throughout the summer months with the end dates ranging from the end of July to the first weekend in September.

Anyone interested in applying to become a lifeguard must first be certified.
Cashiers provide guest services for visitors to the City of Phoenix swimming pools. They are responsible for collecting admissions and registering guests for programs.
Lifeguards provide supervision in swimming and diving activities and are responsible for the safety of people in the swimming area. Lifeguards also maintain the aquatic facility.
In addition to the duties of a Lifeguard, Advanced Lifeguards instruct swimming lessons, specialty classes, and water safety programs, as well as instruct and coach recreational team practices, meets, and events.

StarGuard Class Prerequisites: This class teaches lifeguarding skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.
• All candidates must be 15 years old prior to the last day of class
• Pass a pre-skills test:
- 300 yards of continuous swimming using either freestyle or breaststroke
- tread water for one minute without hands
- 10 pound brick retrieval in deep water
Those that successfully complete the class will earn a one-year certification in StarGuard lifeguard training and American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) basic first aid and CPR/AED training.
Starfish Swim Instructor Class Prerequisites: This course is designed to instruct participants in the skills and techniques required to teach the fundamentals of swimming and water safety.
• Must be 16 years old prior to the last day of class and be able to successfully complete the pre-course swimming skills test.
After successful completion, participants will be certified as Starfish Swimming Instructor (SSI).
